system design and architecture

Architecture, as a design process, is a way of linking basic elements together to serve a specific function or to solve a specific problem. This is exactly how a system works: different elements connect together to serve a function as a whole. In architecture design, the different elements could be basic architectural elements, like wall, window etc; it could also be different aspects affecting the final design, like human needs, pre-existing conditions, climate, site etc. And these elements interact and influence each other forming a net of interconnections. Finally, the final building reflects an over-arching idea, provides a function, or solves a problem.
